Asian Connexion
The awesome cross-cultural category! In this category, no one knows who their partner will be until the day itself. In true Lucky Dip style, they may be a complete stranger, they may not! All we do know is that you will be dancing with a dancer from a different country. It’s a chance to get to know each other. The ideal CPAC icebreaker, this category is included in all 3-night, 5-night, Backpacker & Ultimate Holiday passes.
Level: OPEN
- Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
- A couple will be comprised of one lead and one follow.
- Your dance partner must come from another country.
- Baby Aerials are permitted, but not Aerials.
- Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted.
Dance with a Stranger (DWAS)
In this category, nobody knows who their partner will be and partners are changed during the heat! With this category we aim to discover the best overall individual dancers in each level. You are judged individually here so push your boundaries and excel, dancing with some of the best partners you will ever encounter. This is a true test of your skills as a dancer.
Levels: (1) NEWCOMERS - (2) INTERMEDIATE - (3) ADVANCED - (4) OPEN

- Participants in this category are judged individually.
- Dancers will be paired up with a partner the start of the category and partners will be changed during the competition.
- The lead or follow can be of any gender, however, must comply with the rules for their dancing level in their role as either a lead or follow.
- Baby Aerials are permitted, but not Aerials.
- Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted.
Freestyle
Ceroc Champs spirit at its finest. Whether you have been dancing a few months or a few years, join this category with your fixed partner to compete, gain experience and possibly even win! Be prepared to wow the judges and the audience with breath-taking moves, effortless style and expert timing.
Levels: (1) NEWCOMERS - (2) INTERMEDIATE - (3) ADVANCED - (4) OPEN

- Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
- Each participant can only enter 1 level of Freestyle
- If you would like to dance with a partner of a higher level, you will both be entered into the higher level.
- Leads and follows may be of the same gender. Unlike BOTS this is for regular “serious” partners to compete at their appropriate level.
- Baby Aerials are permitted for all levels, but Aerials are permitted only for the Open level.
- Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted.
- Excessive amounts of choreography in freestyle events will be penalised.
RocVets
In this category, age and experience do matter, as we celebrate the dance 'veterans' who are Ceroc-ing!
Level: OPEN
- Both dancers must be aged 50 years old or above.
- Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
- Leads and follows may be of the same gender.
- Baby Aerials are permitted, but not Aerials.
- Leans, Dips & Drops are permitted.
Music Mashup
Inspired by the Chch Champs, this category tests you and your dance partner’s skills to adapt to whatever our Champs DJ throws at you. With 4 x 30 seconds of contrasting songs for you and your partner’s dancing delight, expect to be challenged! From slow to fast, quirky to silky, outrageous to in-the-box, can you change the flavour and style of your dance interpretation on the go?

- Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
- Leads and follows may be of the same gender.
- Leans, Dips, Drops and Aerials are permitted.
Battle of the Sexes (BOTS)
Couples must comprise of two male or two female dancers. This playful category is limited only by your imagination. The emphasis is about enjoying yourselves and entertaining the crowd.

- Participants in this category are judged as a couple.
- Leans, Dips, Drops and Aerials permitted.
Double Trouble
In this category, one lead dances with two follows and the trio must express their best freestyle moves to the music played.
Level: OPEN
- Participants in this category are judged as a trio.
- Each trio must consist of three people and can be any combination of male/female dancers.
- Each trio must comprise of ONE lead and TWO follows.
- Leans, Dips, Drops and Aerials are permitted.
World Dance Off
Northern hemisphere vs. Southern hemisphere...a world dance off, if you will! This is a team cabaret event. Both teams dance to the same piece of music, as agreed by the Team Leaders. On the night the audience votes for their favourite team.
Level: OPEN
- You can register your interest to be part of the World Dance Off when you complete your registration.
- If you live north of the equator you must compete in the Northern hemisphere team, if you live south of the equator you must compete in the Southern Hemisphere team.
- Northern/Southern team leaders will choose a piece of competition music together, otherwise CPAC organisers will choose.
- Team leaders finalise up to 20 dancers per hemisphere prior to CPAC and send out choreography by video to be learned in advance.
- Daytime team rehearsals to take place on Thursday 23 & Friday 24 May at Shanghai Mansion, where teams can finalise their wacky plans!
- Evening dance off on Saturday 25 May with Northern versus Southern Hemisphere team performances. Who will win? It's the audience you have to impress - as they are the ones voting!
- Leans, Dips, Drops and Aerials are permitted.
Team Performance
A true test of the CPAC competition flair - can you and your team members impress the judges and the international crowd with your unique choreography, musicality, precision, presentation and fun factor?
Level: OPEN
- Each team will dance a self-choreographed performance to their own choice of music for a minimum of 2 minutes 30 seconds and a maximum of 4 minutes.
- Each team must comprise between 6 and 30 dancers.
- A maximum of 5 teams will be accepted for this category.
- Team couples may be of the same gender.
- Routines should largely consist of identifiable Ceroc moves. Non-contact dancing is allowed, as long as the non-contact dance does not take up more than half the choreography.
- The names of all team members and the final name of the team must be submitted to the Ceroc Asia organisers at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
- Music must be provided to the Ceroc Asia organisers at least 3 weeks prior to the event.
- Routines will be judged for their 'entertainment' value. This takes consideration of, but not limited to:
- Choreography
- Quality of Dancing
- Synchronicity
- Dress
- Performance: engagement with audience and one another and use of expression
- Imagination: Innovation of theme and content
- Use of Space: Formation, shape and placement
- Complexity: Challenge of choreography
